5 Innovative Tips for Creating a Beautiful Flyer for Your Next Event

Smith · February 3, 2019 · Leave a Comment

Have you come to a creative standstill while thinking about promoting your next event? Don’t worry, it’s not a simple process.

With so many advertising options available in the digital world, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. If this happens to you, going old school with a great looking flyer may be the answer.

However, if you’ve never made a print advertisement, you may need a little direction to help you get started. That’s why we’re going over five tips for creating an innovative design.

1. A Good Layout Is Key

Think of the layout as the skeleton of your design. It’s important to plan where different elements will go before getting creative.

You’ll need to account for the headline along with the imagery you plan to include. In addition, make sure you leave enough space to include all the pertinent information.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with different positioning and use of space. If you need something sophisticated, check out pre-made flyer templates online.

2. Texture Your Background

An easy way to add a lot of depth to your design is to start with a textured background. This can completely change the vibe for the better.

You could opt for a sleek, modern background or something more gritty and rough. This all depends on the type of event you’re promoting.

Remember, choose your background color wisely. Opt for lighter shades.

3. Use Exciting Typography

The font you use has a huge impact on the way people perceive your advertisement. The great thing is, there are seemingly countless fonts to choose from.

Think about the event you’re promoting. That will help dictate the typography. There are fonts available that effectively convey any type of attitude or mood.

Consider using a different font for your headline than you do for smaller text. This will set the name of the event apart and grab peoples’ attention.

4. Catch the Eye With Color

It’s amazing the way color affects the brain and conveys a tone. Make sure you choose your colors wisely.

For things like a garage sale or promotional event, you want vibrant colors that catch the eye. However, other events like an art show or festival require something more subtle.

It’s important to resist going overboard. A good rule of thumb is to limit yourself to three colors.

5. Don’t Be Afraid of Simplicity

Just like interior design, when it comes to creating flyers, less can definitely be more. The last thing you want to do is make it hard for the viewer to understand what the event is about.

Making use of white space is a great idea. It allows your design to breathe and also moves peoples’ eye to the other elements.

It’s important to make the essential information prominent. If there’s too much going on, you risk not getting your message across.

Make a Flyer That Gets Results

The quality of your flyer design will have a huge impact on the success of your event. Make sure to be critical when working on your concept.

Use the tips discussed above and promote your event like a pro.
