How to Find the Right Dining Room Set for Your Home

Smith · April 30, 2019 · Leave a Comment

Finding a new dining room set can be a bit of an overwhelming experience. There are a few different things to keep in mind as you shop for this type of furniture. After all, you’re trying to fix a problem that exists in that your current dining room set doesn’t work as it should, right?

Even if you think your current dining room set functions well, searching for a new one requires a little bit of patience.

Lucky for you, in this article, we’re outlining some tips to getting the best dining room set so you don’t have to think about it much. Let’s take a look at how to find the right dining room set for your home.

How to Find the Right Dining Room Set for Your Home

Dining room sets are designed to serve and host family and friends during the most casual, the most intimate, and the most precious events in your life. That’s why you need to find exactly the right one. Here’s how:

Size

The best dining tables fit in your space with at least two feet of clearance for the chair from a wall. You should also allow at least 24 inches of table space between people sitting at the table so everybody has enough elbow room.

Style

Depending on the style of your home may depend on the style of your dining table. If you have an eat-in kitchen, you may opt for a bistro style set.

For larger, formal dining rooms, elaborate farm tables are not uncommon.

Shape

Your new dining table should reflect the space it occupies. Small spaces do well with round or square tables while larger spaces hold rectangular tables well. All in all, the shape of your table is as important as the size and style to complete the desired outcome.

Round

The best dining room tables for small spaces are definitely round. They create a cozy and intimate feel to a room best suited for two people.

Oval

An oval table is best suited for a narrow space. The rounded edges make it feel smaller than a rectangular table but you still get the space. Most oval tables also come with leaves to extend their size.

Rectangular

Rectangular tables are the most common because they can seat more than four people. They are also often more flexible with removable leaves that allow for shrinking and extending the size.

Square

Square tables fit best in square rooms and are best suited for no more than four people. They feel larger in small rooms because of the corners.

Final Thoughts

The benefits of a dining room set that fits your room well and seats everybody at once are one and many. No more scooting chairs around to accommodate people and borrowing chairs from the other room. You’ll be able to enjoy dinner again.

Now that you have a new dining room set, you’ll need to get rid of the old one. Check out this post that details how to get rid of old furniture instead of leaving it piling up in the garage.
