The Top Kinds of Commercial Air Conditioning You Can Use for Your Commercial Property

Smith · May 23, 2019 · Leave a Comment

More and more commercial properties are opting for air conditioning, and these properties range from small cafes and pubs to larger building complexes as well as spaces for public use. Today, you can take advantage of a whole host of air conditioning applications with both cooling and heating capacities, and these come with various layouts and setups as well. There are several distinct categories when it comes to air conditioning, but there are some common types which include single split air conditioning, multi-split air conditioning, and VRV or VRF air conditioning. So, the question is, which one is the best fit for your needs? Let’s check out the different kinds of commercial air conditioning you can use for your commercial property.

  • Split-type air conditioning

The split-type air conditioning is perhaps the simplest type you can install, and it’s the most affordable as well. If you have a small commercial space or building, you can make use of this and it can also provide ample cooling and heating to different individual areas or rooms. If you have a café, a shop, a small office, or a server room, split-type air conditioning is usually a good choice. You can also combine several split units to provide cool or warm temperatures for larger areas, although bear in mind that you would need enough space outdoors since you have an outdoor air conditioning unit for each indoor air conditioning unit. Split types are cheaper compared to having a central unit installed, and since every unit is self-contained, the breakdown of one unit will not affect the other units.

  • Multi-split

Another common type is multi-split air conditioning, and it works in a similar way to the split unit although, based on the model and make, you can connect as many as nine units located indoors to one central unit outdoors. You can most easily find multi-split air conditioning in doctors’ clinics or offices, restaurants, and shops, as the experts in air conditioning Surrey from Sub-Cool FM attest. This kind is preferable if you don’t have much space outdoors or if you want to preserve the outside appearance of your building.

Another advantage to this is that you don’t have to limit yourself to just using a single type of unit indoors – if you prefer, you can have a combination of ceiling-mounted units and wall-mounted units, an air curtain (useful for the entrance of your building), and so on. Keep in mind, though, that multi-split air conditioning is more complex, and it also requires a lot more pipework compared to several split-type units. The installation for this can be a bit more expensive, and it may take a longer time as well.

  • VRV or VRF air conditioning

VRF means variable refrigerant flow, whilst VRV means variable refrigerant volume. They aren’t that different, and it was Daikin who first developed and distributed the technology (they referred to it as VRV to prevent other air conditioning manufacturers and producers from using it), so now everyone refers to it as VRF. This may be best if you have a medium-sized to large application, and you can see it mostly in hotels, large offices, retail spaces, and entire office buildings. Needless to say, it is very efficient and reliable, it comes with easy controls, and it comes with a shorter installation time as well.
