10 Secrets To Healthy Hair That You Should Know

Smith · November 5, 2018 · Leave a Comment

Healthy, beautiful hair has always been regarded as a prized possession for men and women of all ages. No wonder people are ready to spend a fortune on hair care products and treatments. But hair care is easier than you think, provided that you do it in the right way. All you need to know is some secrets to healthy and strong hair, which we will unveil for you and help you retain your crowning glory over the years. Just follow these easy tips and flaunt your tresses anywhere you go.

1. Eat a balanced diet

Eating a balanced diet not only keeps you fit and healthy but reflects on your hair too. Have plenty of nutrients in your everyday diet and add foods that are high in proteins. Poor nutritional status can cause a range of problems such as hair loss and brittleness as well as deprive them of their natural luster.

2. Stay hydrated

In addition to eating healthy, it is also important to drink plenty of water so that you stay well hydrated. Water is as important for your hair as it is for the rest of the body parts. Optimal hydration levels keep the scalp and hair roots well nourished and prevent breakage, dryness and flakiness.

3. Use quality products meant for your hair type

Another secret to prevent these hair problems and keeping them strong and healthy is to use only quality hair care products that are specifically meant for your hair type. For instance, there are specialized shampoos, oils or brushes for different hair, a beard straightening brush works great on a beard but not on hair and the same goes for oils, shampoos and conditioners.

4. Shampoo your scalp, not hair

The purpose of shampooing is to clean the scalp by removing dirt and dead skin cells deposited on it. If you have been shampooing your hair rather than scalp all these years, you are doing it wrong. A healthy scalp automatically supports soft and shiny tresses.

5. Dry hair gently

Now that you know about washing and cleaning your hair (and scalp) the right way, you should also be aware about drying it right. Do it very gently with a soft towel to take out excess water from wet hair. Using a blow dryer is the worst way you can do it.

6. Avoid heat and chemicals

Of course, you should avoid blow drying and this applies to the use of other forms of heat styling as well because they deprive your hair of natural moisture and leave it dull and brittle. Minimize the use of chemicals for coloring and styling too because excessive use cause damage to your locks over a period of time.

7. Use natural oils and hair masks

Regularly nourishing your hair with natural oils and masks is another unbeatable secret to beautiful and healthy hair. Coconut oil, almond oil and mustard oil are considered good for hair. For masks, you can use natural ingredients such as curd, egg and henna. If you do want to use manufactured oils and masks, always invest in top quality and trustworthy brands.

8. Wear a hat

Prolonged exposure to dust and sunlight can cause extensive damage to your hair. The best way to avoid this is by covering your hair whenever you step outdoors. You can wear a hat or cover it with a scarf to limit the exposure to dust, grime and sunlight.

9. Use the right hair grooming tools

Using the right hair grooming tools is another useful tip to follow in daily routine. A wide-toothed comb, for instance, is best for detangling wet hair because it prevents breakage and weakening of hair from the roots. Similarly, invest in hair brushes that have rounded tips and wide bristles.

10. Give your hair a break

Like all other body systems and organs, your hair deserves a break too. If you color them regularly, try leaving them uncolored for a few months at periodic intervals. Let it loose instead of tying it in a tight bun or ponytail. Avoid blow drying and use air drying or towel drying instead. Periodic “hair breaks” work like a restful time for your hair and enable it to recover and regain the natural moisture and strength.

Even though we have listed these tips as hair secrets, these are the ones that every person probably knows. However, they tend to ignore them as they seem like a lot of work. But if you try to follow these easy measures, it can make a lot of difference to your hair health and make it look more beautiful and healthy than ever.
