Five Study Habits of Highly Effective Students

Smith · February 26, 2020 · Leave a Comment

Aside from a lot of studying in and out of the classroom, a student’s life is full of ongoing learning activities, not to mention their important personal stuff they need to attend to. This is why they need help in concentrating and learn the art of studying smarter.

An effective study habit should be practiced in order to keep the flow of studying as smooth as possible. Here are some ways to form and follow a study habit.

1. Find a conducive place to study

A conducive study area can really add to the need for concentration. A quiet space, far from distractions can help students think clearly and focus on what they are doing. It’s ideal for every home with students to have a dedicated study area with complete tools to enable students to study in one place and make everything efficient.

2. A planner and to-do list

Being well organized will always provide favorable outcomes. If you plan ahead, take note and create a buzz when a deadline is near, you can get enough time to amend if adjustments are needed. A planner can help you plan out everything. On the other hand a to-do list can help you decide what to prioritize and never miss out on anything whether big or small.

3. Do a Group Study

Most of us find the peace and comfort in studying alone, but sometimes you can learn other things while working in a group. Understanding a complicated concept can be easier to be figured out as group. Remember the saying that two heads are better one? It’s applicable to studying as well. However, ensure that you keep it structured and small as possible to reduce distractions, eliminates procrastination, and hone each other skills. Some International Schools include collaborative learning in curriculums such as PYP Campaign where engaging students to work in groups is one of the study goals.

4. Read, read and read

No time and energy will be wasted in reading. It’s an exercise for the brain, expands the vocabulary and knowledge, improves memory and writing abilities, enhances imagination and more. Actively reading books even online articles give many benefits. Take time to read. You can do so before going to sleep. It helps to boost sleep as well. Overall, reading adds value to life. It can be inspiring and let you decide on what path to take in life if you still don’t know what you want in life.

5. Always think positive

Being in the right mindset will get you to the right direction. Always think positively towards your deadlines, exams and all the things you are working on. Keep the confidence and remember that you well-prepared for your exam and projects therefore there’s no reason for you not to pass.

The thought of studying for many years could be really distressing, but when you set study habits like those that are mention in this article, then the long years of studying will be like a smooth journey that would not feel boring nor tiring instead something you will always feel excited about.
