7 Travel Tips To Keep You Safe

Smith · December 14, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Traveling is very fun and exciting. There will always be the thrill of trying new things and experiencing different cultures. But as beautiful as it sounds, traveling comes with a lot of different hassles and dangers. Different places and countries have different kinds of people and cultures. You will never know how the people there naturally act, so keep your guard up just to be safe. In this article, we are going to talk about the things you can do to make traveling safer.

Get travel insurance

As mentioned earlier, traveling comes with a lot of danger. Having travel insurance can save you in many different situations. Learn how to anticipate, do not just ignore those “You’ll never know” moments. Let’s say that you get into some sort of accident while traveling, your credit card gets lost or stolen, or your flight gets canceled; your travel insurance will cover those damages.

Secure a place to rent

Part of your planning should include looking for a place to stay. Bookings can get quite difficult, especially if the place you are going to is a tourist spot. Before even booking a flight, make sure that you already have a place to stay and that you have already secured a room. If you do not know a certain place, you can try looking it up online. For example, you can search for Bellingham vacation rentals.

Prepare a separate bag for your important items.

Most of the time, when traveling, you bring with you a lot of bags. Especially in the airport, your things are distributed into different bags. And sometimes, that can get confusing, and you may forget which bag you placed a certain thing in. To prevent this from happening, bring a smaller bag with you and place all your most accessed important things like cellphones, passports, tickets, and IDs. This will also help you prevent losing them.

Wear your backpack in front of you

If you are traveling with a backpack, consider wearing it the opposite way. Place the back in front of you instead of the back. Doing so will help you see the zipper and pockets clearly and easier. This will keep thieves from stealing from you. Do this, especially in crowded places.

Be careful when taking pictures.

It is expected that when you travel, you will see a lot of new things that will intrigue you. You may want to take a picture to capture a rare sight and keep it as a souvenir. But be careful when doing so. Taking pictures often will easily reveal that you are a tourist. You must keep low as much as possible to keep you away from scammers. There are a lot of scammers. Observing the people around them and looking for tourists to take advantage of, so do your best not to look like prey.

Check your room

Before you settle, check your room first. Go around the room and search for cameras. Unfortunately, there are a lot of hidden cameras in hotels and inns. Use the flashlight on your phone and shine them on alarm clocks, decorations, vents, and places you think a camera would be placed. If there is a red dot that shines, open the object, and there is a good chance that there is a camera inside.

Leave traces

If you are traveling alone, especially if you are a woman, leave traces on the transportation you are taking. Leave some hair and fingerprints in the taxi and uber. While you’re at it, take a photo of the ID of the driver and the plate number. And then send that information to someone who can contact you easily.
